If you’ve been looking for a timber frame with a symmetrical roof, look no further than this 16x24 hipped pavilion plan! This pavilion would make a great picnic shelter or pool pavilion for you. A hipped roof is a good choice in snowy or windy locations because of its sturdiness. Although this frame is designed with simple trusses with cross braces, it is not necessarily a frame for beginners. The jack rafters require cutting some compound angles. You might want to check out this video for a good explanation of how to cut them.
- The dimensions are from outside to outside of the 8x8 posts.
- 2 foot overhangs offer protection from the elements.
- Top plates are over 9’-11” high; top of the rafters at the ridge are over 17 feet high.
- Traditional pegged mortise and tenon joinery.
