C4 EVO Coating

Rothoblaas's EVO is a multilayer coating: 

• An external epoxy matrix with aluminum flakes - this gives the coating resistance to thermal and mechanical stresses. If your coating cracks, it doesn't matter how good it is.
• A central binding layer.
• An internal zinc layer adding yet more corrosion resistance.

Superior to Stainless?

Stainless steel is often considered the holy grail for outdoor screws. Proximity to coastline is a key factor in determining corrosion resistance for outdoor structural fasteners. With the C4 EVO coating on your TBS timber frame screws, you can get as close to the ocean as you want with your outdoor structures.

Based on testing, the results spea the C4 coating matches saltwater corrosion of A4/316 stainless and outperforms A2/304 stainless steel. But the beauty of a TBS EVO screw is that the steel has more tensile strength and shear-resistance than stainless steel could ever hope to have.
