Project Description:

This is a simple and beautiful design. I worked with a handful of guild members to raise it. I’m a guild member as well. Your plans were easy for my friend and I to interpret and execute. We are both experienced carpenters with a zeal for challenges. This was a wonderful introduction to timber framing for us. Our friends and family came together for raising day to help it all come together. We had food, music and a cider press cranking on into the evening.

Note: If you’re looking closely, you’ll notice that we did make modifications with two opposing dormers. They are the bays with only one rafter purlin at the top. Other modifications include lengthened posts to accommodate a 4’ stem wall, and omission of a number of knee braces which interfered with windows and doors. The entire timber frame will have 2x6 walls surrounding it and 2x10 rafters for the roof. Many Simpson clips will hold the two frames together making it a formidable and well insulated structure.
