Liquid Wax End Sealer – Heritage Natural Finish is a wonderful joinery and end grain sealer and buffing wax. It does not leave a stain. It can be worked by applying it, letting it dry and then buffing with a power buffer. Or you can rub it in as a polish and buff it dry. It can be used on its own or as a finish coat for added sheen and protection. It rejuvenates dry, dull logs, timbers, or any other wood products. Liquid Wax End Sealer – Heritage Natural Finish is great to use for seasonal cleaning and maintenance of timber frames. To use on joinery or end grain, just paint on Liquid Wax before you store your lumber for long periods to reduce checking. You can also apply it just before setting a piece for easier fitting.
Liquid Wax End Sealer – Heritage Natural Finish is used often by timber framers in the shop for sealing the end grain and joints of large timbers, to reduce checking without staining the wood. It is great for any timber stored outside and exposed to the weather. This product also makes the top coat wax much more durable. It is recommended for top-coating in floor finishing, counter-tops, earthen floors and for general furniture finishing.
All Heritage Oil Finishes are non-toxic, biodegradable, and sustainable. They use absolutely NO heavy metals or driers of any kind, which means that their products take longer to dry, but they penetrate deeper, which prevents wrinkling due to uneven drying.
You can apply these finishes in cold temperatures. There’s really no minimum range. However, the colder it is, the slower it soaks in and dries so apply thinner coats, be sure to wipe off what doesn’t soak in after a few hours and wait longer to apply the subsequent coats.
Coverage:
Approx. 800 + square feet per gallon; rough-sawn materials tend to absorb more, and wood density affects coverage. Softer woods like pine or reclaimed Doug-fir will absorb more than denser woods such as hickory. The second coat will give you more coverage than the first coat. And obviously dry wood will soak up a lot more oil than green timbers. You should order more than you think you need, rather than less.
Clean Up:
For spills, overspray, or to clean up brushes, use our Pure Citrus Solvent or other solvents (Turpentine, Mineral Spirits, etc.). Sizes: 4oz sample size, quarts, one-gallon paint can, 3-gallon steel pail with pour spout lid, 5-gallon steel pail with pour spout lid.
