8×12 Timber Frame Plan

Looking for a smaller project to start your timber framing journey? Take a look at this diminutive 8×12 timber frame king post plan! This plan has a 12/12 roof pitch, and it boasts roomy two foot overhangs. Do you have a small back yard? This 96 square foot frame will fit in just about anywhere.  Use it as a gardener’s shed or tool shed, or add a couple of windows and create a fun playhouse for the kids!  This frame has graceful, slightly curved knee braces, and is constructed with sturdy 8×8 posts.

Since there are only two bents in this design, there is not a whole lot of lumber to purchase and cut. That makes this a relatively inexpensive frame to create. It is also going to be easy to raise. Gather up your friends and family and let them help you – make raising day a party!

The drawings are formatted as an instant-download PDF. There are individual piece drawings, and a full timber list to make your lumber purchasing easier.  The renderings include x-ray vision drawings, so you can really get a feel for the joinery. The pages are sized at 8 ½” x 11”, for easy printing from home.
