26×36 Timber Frame Carport

$97.00

Take a good look at the beautiful and functional 26×36 timber frame carport! It has over 900 square feet of clear span space to serve whatever purpose you have in mind. The generous proportions means you can park two super duty trucks in two of the bays and still have plenty of room to enclose the third for a shop or storage. Or you could decide to use this attractive frame as a comfortably-sized cabin.

  • Actual dimensions to outside of posts: 25’ 3 ¾” x 36’
  • Mortise and tenons, scarf joints and spline joints
  • 8x material for posts and rafters; 6x material for purlins, girts and ridges; 4x for knee braces
  • 6:12 roof pitch
  • Timberlinx connectors and structural screws augment traditional joinery
  • Clear span square footage without a central post
  • Over 16’ at the ridge creates high ceiling

As soon as you buy the plans, you can download them to your computer. The sets are formatted to 11”x17” for printing at your neighborhood copy shop. The 35 pages of drawings include 3D drawings, dimensioned post and roof plans, and elevations and sections. We include 3D detailed drawings so you can truly understand the connections. Every timber is labeled in the exploded 3D drawing of this frame. The labels correspond to the detailed and dimensioned piece drawings so you know exactly what you need to do to cut this frame. And we also include a timber list to make budgeting for and procuring your materials easier.

Modifications

We are happy to modify and update the drawings to your specifications. We can adjust the footprint, roof pitch, overhangs, and overall heights. These will eliminate your mistakes in modifying an existing plan to meet your needs.

A couple of notes and requests:

  • Even the slightest change to the drawings can impact the time it takes to modify them. Most of the 2d drawings, timber list, and fastener list will need to update. The stock plans take between 15 hours to 40+ hours or $1,375 to $3,400+. Your project will not cost the same as the original, so that you will see savings.
  • Our design services are $85 per hour. Engineering services are $200 per hour. We have a minimum charge of $500 for our design work.
  • Lengthening (parallel to the main ridge) is more affordable than changing the width or adjusting the roof pitch.
  • We have made it a requirement that you purchase this plan for us to modify it. You need to have a copy of the plans so you can make changes that you want to make and mark them for us to review. In the end, if you don’t go with any of our services, we will be happy to refund you 100%.
  • Once you have purchased the plans and have reviewed them, please fill out the form below. It will get you into our system, and one of our team members will get back to you with an estimate for our services. Please include any of the following changes to the form’s “Other Project Info” section.
    • Overall width and length that you are after from the outside of the posts.
    • New 2nd Floor Framing Height
    • New KneeWall Frame Height (from 2nd-floor framing height to top of the top plate?

Drawing review

The details for the joints could be more detailed you guys give just enough info you can do the math to get the numbers to lay out the joints but it would be nice to have the numbers you need already on the drawing

Thanks for your comments. We try hard to get all the dimensions on the plans but often do miss some. Please let us know if you need help with a missing dimension. - B

A good find

The 3D view was fantastic and is what sold me on buying the plans. I live in remote Alaska so I mill all of my material myself. In the end I will have made a few modifications to simplify the fit but your building plans are what got me excited to do it.
