This 18×24 timber frame pavilion was built by Jerell Friesen of Big Wood Timbercraft Ltd. in Fernie, British Columbia. Constructed using Douglas fir, the project is based on the 18×24 king post plan from Timber Frame HQ, a layout well suited for open-air structures that require both strength and visual balance.
The king post design provides a clear, open interior while maintaining the traditional proportions and joinery expected in a classic timber frame pavilion. Photographed by Jerell Friesen, the finished structure highlights the clean lines of Douglas fir timbers and demonstrates how a standard plan can be executed with precision and craftsmanship in a mountain setting.
