SPECIFICATIONS
If you are cutting your own timbers and need to shelter your sawmill, doesn’t it make sense to have your structure be timber frame as well? We have just the ticket with this 12x26 Sawmill Shed! It is designed to comfortably house just about any sawmill. We do recommend you check the specs of your sawmill, just to be sure. The plan measures 12 feet wide by 26 feet deep from outside to outside of the posts, and there are 2 foot overhangs all around for even more protection from the elements.
This 12x26 Sawmill Shed utilizes a parallel chord truss on the high side of the shed roof , which means there are no posts interrupting the opening on that side. And a parallel chord truss constructed with traditional joinery is a beautiful thing you’ll be proud to show off. This plan gives you plenty of headroom, with the top of the bottom chord standing over 10 feet high, and the top cord at almost 14 feet high.
When you make your purchase, we will email you links to download the PDFs of the plan sets. We set you up for success with all the information you need! The construction set has 9 pages of 3D drawings, post and beam plans, and section drawings. We also include plenty of detail drawings to explain how the parts fit together. The 16-page piece drawing set gives you dimensioned 2D and 3D drawings of every cut on each timber. Then we include connector and timber lists so you know exactly what materials you need to build this frame.

What sort of roof loads (snow/rain) was this plan designed for?
Our standard design parameters include Doug Fir#1 Timber, with 40 lbs. total roof loading 30# live 10# dead, 40/50 for lofts, and minimal wind loading. That depends on other factors like seismic areas, wind load, wind exposure, timber species and more. When in doubt we recommend that you consult an engineer. We offer engineering services as an add-on to our stock plan; you can find out more information here.
do you have plans for the footing also?
There are so many different ways to handle foundations that it is difficult to include a foundation drawing for all the frames on the site. We have completed a bunch of foundation details, you can find them at https://timberframehq.com/construction-details/masonryconcrete-to-timber/. You should be able to find one that works for you there.
for the long horizontal beam spans, do. you need 30′ foot beams are is the trellis and rear top plate 2 pieces
In that design they are single beams, and scarfing the rear plate would be okay. However, the front two cannot be scarfed unless engineered.
Can this be extended to enclose a Timberking 2520 bandmill? I would need 35-40 feet of clear span. Thanks.
It would have to reengineered and designed. That is quite a large span.
