Timber Frame Bedswing

Heavy Timber Bed Swing Plan - Image17

Would you like to laze away an afternoon in your garden, admiring your handiwork? Then you should think about crafting this timber frame bedswing!  Once you build the frame you will have plenty of room to add a twin-size mattress and comfy pillows. Lay back and enjoy your accomplishment in cutting the traditional joinery. This would make a great beginner project, because of the small size and moderate amount of timbers.

The footprint measures 8’-5”x4’-5”, but the overall dimensions 9’9”x 5’9 1/2” x 8’5 3/4” tall because of the top beams.  The timbers are of smaller dimensions, with 6”x6” posts and top plates, 4”x6” braces and 6”x6” purlins. Keep in mind that the bed frame, mattress, cushions, and pillows, along with chains and swing attachment hardware are to be designed and provided by you.

You can download the pdf of these plans as soon as you make your purchase. You can print them at home on 8 ½”x11” paper, or take them to a copy shop to print at 11”x17”. The plan set contains 8 pages which include 3D drawings and renderings, dimensioned plan and elevation drawings, and plenty of notes so you understand the details.  We also include 14 pages of piece drawings, showing all the cuts you will make on every timber. In addition, we provide timber and connector lists to make purchasing your materials easier.
