This pergola project was designed by Timber Frame HQ and constructed by timber framer Steve Mulqueen using Douglas fir. Built in Ireland, the structure follows the 12×12 pergola plan, adapted for its setting in the UK and Irish climate.
The use of Douglas fir gives the pergola both strength and visual warmth, making it well suited for an outdoor structure of this size. With its substantial timbers and straightforward design, the pergola reflects a practical, durable approach to timber framing while maintaining the clean lines and proportions typical of a classic 12×12 layout.
