This 16x24 saltbox cabin has a lot of potential for a moderately-sized frame! Because the saltbox roofline is created by one exterior wall being taller than the other, you get a generous ceiling height that even allows space for a second level. In this design, we chose to floor half of the second level for a loft, and keep a volume ceiling over the other half of the main level.
This plan measures 14’-11 ¾” x 22’-11 ¾” from outside to outside of the posts. This allows you to clad the frame with SIPs and still utilize a 16x24 foundation. The top of the tie beam is 9’-9 ½” high, giving you a nice ceiling height on the main level. The higher plate on the second level stands 5’5” higher than the floor and the ridge beam is 3’-4” taller than that, creating plenty of height there as well.
We have detailed this frame out as a cute one bedroom cabin, and those plans are included with your purchase! The ground floor has an open kitchen/living area, master bedroom with closet, and a full bathroom. A ladder takes you up to the loft space that you could use as a sleeping loft or other purpose.
