Double Tenoned Scarf Joint

double tenoned scarf jointIn this joinery example, we are detailing two variations of this double tenoned scarf joint.  The first uses a hardwood wedge to drive the two pieces together and the other uses pegs.   If you want or need a better method you can opt to use structural screws in place of the pegs.  Both offer a strong simple joint to add to your timber frame if you are in the need of joining two timbers together horizontally.
