24 x 30 T-REX frame

This 720 square foot post and beam frame has a great footprint of 24 feet by 30 feet. The proportions are so versatile – it will work wonderfully as a 2 car garage, workshop, tiny house or cabin! The frame parts are sturdy, with large 8x8 posts, 8x12 plate beams, 8x12 tie beams and 4x8 rafters. The roof pitch is a generous 9/12, which creates a large interior volume. The sidewalls are a roomy 9 feet high, with raised collar ties and screwed knee braces.

The straightforward design uses T-REX connectors instead of traditional mortise and tenon joinery. T-REX Connectors greatly save time and money in the construction of post and beam while showcasing the beauty of the wood beams. T-REX displays the wood, minimizing metal visibility. The connectors are made from 6061 structural grade aluminum and anodized for extra protection. Even a beginner can easily cut and assemble a frame with the unique T-REX connector.

The 21 page plan includes sample elevations with options for enclosing the space – although the plan details are for the frame only, without foundation, windows, etc. It also has frame elevations, a timber list, fastener list, construction drawings, fastening details and most importantly single beam drawings showing the connector locations. The drawings are formatted in PDF for instant download which should be printed on 11” x 17” sheet size for best viewing.
