  1. We are slowly working on a larger frame size that could accommodate that width, in order for us to use the king post plans we would need to add a post in the middle, however the one we are working on is a clear span. Should be out in a few months.

  2. Brice`, Could this 16 x 24 Queen post have the roof framing converted to Major rafter/minor purlin? If so would the Tie beams on top of queen post be able to support a chain hoist and trolley?

  3. Could this frame be one bent longer on the loft side to increase the square footage without any major issues?

We show that you are already in the TFHQ newsletter list – you should receive it by email Tuesday, 10/30

  5. The bent girts are 8×12 and the posts are 8×8. We would not recommend using smaller timbers without consulting an engineer.

  6. What’s the height between the loft floor and the bottom of the collar ties? I’m assuming the posts could be lengthened somewhat to add more loft height?

  7. Just trying to estimate a cost to build, is there anyway I can get a list of materials for the timbers required?

  8. Interested in possibly modifying this to a 20×20, using Southern Yellow Pine. Think it can only be 18 feet tall at the peak. Is this possible? Feasible to modify this plan or an existing one without the expense of a custom build?

Basic requirements are that it is 20 x 20, clearspan first floor, and no more than 18 feet at the peak.

  9. The 20×24 Queen Post with Loft is 22′-5″ high at the peak. We do offer this single-level 20×24 King Post Timber Frame that is 15′ tall at the peak. Neither plan is clearspan, however. You would need to contact our custom design team to achieve that.
